Posted by FiftytwoMay 27, 2010 at 10:24 pm

We have released some information about the up and coming changing that have been hinted, referred to, and spoken of for the last few months.  So now is your chance to get some inside info, ask some questions, get some answers and find out what the future holds for WowStead and your guild site.

Somethings that the post will go into more detail about:

- New recruiting feature
- Remolded Admin/Control Panel
- New Ranks and Permissions
- Updated File Management
- More specific dates of when it's all going down

Post can be found on WowStead's Main Forums.  Here's a direct link: WowStead Forums.

Down Time Information

Posted by FiftytwoApril 27, 2010 at 5:37 pm

We do apologize for the down time that has occurred over the last 24+ hours.  The short version of what happened was that the hard drive issue two weeks ago was repaired and the RAID was rebuilt during that down time. However, the OS remained corrupted and went undetected until now. It is hard to detect file level corruption when the server appears to operate fine.   We do really appreciated your patience while we worked on making sure this issue was fixed.

We will be crediting all subscription sites one (1) month's worth of free subscription for this down time, the two other down times and the lagging issues.  This will be posted to your guild’s account in the very near future.

For those of you who want WowStead updates. We do have a Facebook page, which we were keeping several of the users updated on the situation.  The page can be viewed without having a Facebook account for those of you who wish to not have a Facebook account.

We also have a Twitter that the updates from our Facebook posts that you can also subscribe to.

As for rumors that had been started, we did not get hacked. No one stole any of the information on our servers. This is a completely fictitious story that someone made up to try to explain something that was 100% coincidence. The downtime we had was caused by hard drive and OS issues, which we have fixed. In any case, as I always tell users, you should alway practice safe computer security and NEVER use your WoW account information for anything else.

Please also be aware that response time to tickets will be a bit slower for the next day or so as I get those caught up. So please don't spam or bump tickets. I am going through them.

Welcome to the Deadmines

Posted by FiftytwoMarch 17, 2010 at 11:26 pm
"Welcome to the Deadmines" is a Disney style tribute to the rise of the Deadmines as a fan favorite among dungeons old and new. Now that it's returning as a level 85 heroic instance, it seemed fitting to not only tell the story of the brotherhood's rise to power, but also the rise to power of this amazing dungeon. Edwin VanCleef and the other bosses sing about their roles within the mines, the history of their fight with Stormwind, and why they are the most liked villians in the World of Warcraft.

Alice in Wonderland

Posted by FiftytwoMarch 4, 2010 at 8:53 pm
Okay this is not WoW related but who cares. I have always been an Alice's Adventures in Wonderland fan.  I have several $100 in books, clothing, figurings, etc. that my friends and family have helped me collect over the years.  So when I heard that Tim Burton and Johnny Depp were going to be making an Alice in Wonderland realsing this March. After Charlie and the Chocolate Factory came out I am sure Tim Burton will do an awesome job. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was a  big concern being a fan of Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, but Tim Burton pulled it off by not remaking the classic, but telling a 'new' story. So whay this post? Well Alice in Wonderland releases here in the states tomorrow... Sentence first -- verdict afterwards.

WoW Armory Scam

Posted by FiftytwoJanuary 15, 2010 at 10:26 pm

Important - Armory Scams

The new version of the armory is now available on both US and EU armory and a lot of people lost their account because of scammers exploiting the popularity of the armory. The scam is fairly simple, people buy advertising on Google to display ads pointing to fake armory sites when you search for the real one on google.

NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVERuse google to access the official site or the armory, just type http://www.wowarmory.com / http://eu.wowarmory.com in your browser and bookmark it if you're lazy and don't want to type it every time.

The armory now requires you to login for a lot of the features introduced with the latest upgrade and you should make sure that you do not do anything stupid when you access it. I don't think you would use google to go to your Account Management page.

If you think you might have been scammed by one of these pages, change your password immediately. If you do not think that you're concerned by this post, change your password immediately because it's always a good idea anyway.

Tis the Season

As the New Year is upon us you may notice some slight changes in Area52.  I have returned the News postings and got rid of the Twitter feed.  I have also changed up the forums again.  The question section is now a bit more specific in it's forums to help people post their questions in a more correct area as well as make it easier for users search for questions that have already been asked.  I have not added the changes of the forums to the navigation just yet.  Will probably do that tomorrow or the next day.
